One of the brightest stars for the Houston Rockets is now facing serious legal jeopardy.
ABC News, via NBACentral, is reporting that Kevin Porter Jr. has been arrested in New York City for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick.
ABC claims that Porter is still in custody as of Monday morning.

According to the report, the incident started when Porter arrived early Monday morning at the hotel he was staying at with Gondrezick.
Upset by his actions, Gondrezick locked Porter out of the hotel room and when he entered, he allegedly assaulted her.
Not only do these charges put Porter’s personal life in crisis, but they could substantially alter his NBA career too.
Recent history shows that the league doesn’t take these sorts of accusations lightly.
Last season, Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets was charged with domestic violence.
Bridges later pled no contest to felony charges while two others were dropped.
He was ultimately sentenced to three years of probation but the league immediately suspended him for 30 games without pay.
What will happen to Porter?
He is one of the most exciting young stars on the Rockets roster.
Last season, he averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists for his team.
Having entered the league just a few years ago, Porter has gotten progressively better throughout his four seasons in the NBA.
It might be a very long time before he ever plays again.
Porter is only 23 years old and could have a very long and impressive career ahead of him.
But now everything is up in the air for the young Rockets player.
