The Seattle Seahawks recently received news that Charles Cross has turf toe, putting his playing status in jeopardy.
Cross was an impactful player on their offensive line during his rookie campaign in 2022 and was slated to do the same this season.
While his presence will be missed as he works to get better, the Seahawks have come up with a backup plan.
According to Ian Rapoport, Jason Peters is slated to meet with the Seahawks to see if he can be of assistance.

Peters is a nine-time Pro Bowler and an 18-year NFL veteran.
While he is 41 years old, the Seahawks may believe he has enough in the tank to help their line in Cross’ absence.
Peters appeared in ten games for the Dallas Cowboys last season, only starting one due to his injuries.
If he is fully healthy, he could be a necessary fill-in for the Seahawks while Cross recovers.
Geno Smith was sacked twice during the Seahawks’ opening game against the Los Angeles Rams.
By itself, this is not necessarily a sign of bad offensive line play.
However, the Seahawks only had 85 total rushing yards on the day, a potential indication that the line needs work.
Peters’ career experience would likely assist both on the field and in the locker room, helping his fellow teammates succeed.
The Seahawks’ next few games are against the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers, and New York Giants.
Will the front office sign Peters to a short-term deal to help protect Smith against these lethal defenses?
