If you ask two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy, the San Francisco 49ers had the most impressive performance in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.
It’s not even the Dallas Cowboys, a team that shut out the New York Giants while putting up 40 points.
The 12-season veteran running back shared his thoughts in a recent episode of FS1’s “Speak.”

McCoy’s argument is high praise for the Kyle Shanahan-coached squad on both sides of the ball.
He pointed out that Brock Purdy had a splendid game, finishing with 19 completions for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
Of course, the running game is close to McCoy’s heart, and he applauded the 49ers for an impressive showing in that department.
Christian McCaffrey played well, finishing with 152 yards on the ground.
The 49ers nearly reached 200 rushing yards on offense, a rarity in the pass-happy era.
McCoy also lauded the passing game, especially Brandon Aiyuk, who had 129 yards and two touchdowns.
The NFC West squad had 408 yards on offense, while the Cowboys only had 265.
Finally, the vaunted Niners defense showed up, sacking Kenny Pickett five times and hitting him nine times.
San Francisco would have pulled off a shutout if not for Pickett’s touchdown pass to tight end Pat Freiermuth.
Standing in their way to a 2-0 start are their division rivals Los Angeles Rams.
