Giannis Antetokounmpo made the rounds in NBA circles a couple of weeks ago.

He didn’t hesitate to affirm he wasn’t going to sign a contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks unless he felt confident in their determination to win and compete at the highest level.

This pretty much put the team on the clock ahead of this season, as they will have one year to convince Giannis to stay.

Recently, in his appearance on the 48 Minutes podcast, the Greek Freak doubled down on his comments by talking about his desire to win.

Giannis stated that he doesn’t care about the comfort zone or the past, stating that he’s looking forward to creating some new memories and winning more championships (via ClutchPoints).

“I am a winner. I want to be a winner… Comfort zone does not matter to me… At the end of the day, I want to create new memories, I want to win a lot of championships.”

That may or may not be a slight jab at his team, and he’s putting them under a lot of pressure right now.

The Bucks had the best record last season and could only win one game in the playoffs.

Of course, not having him on the court because of an injury was a major factor in that heartbreaking and disappointing end to the season, but he didn’t waste any time taking shots at his former coach Mike Budenholzer, either.

The Bucks brought back their championship-winning core to try and keep Giannis at ease, and they even got him involved in their coaching search before hiring Adrian Griffin.

They’re clearly willing to do whatever it takes to keep their superstar happy, but it might not be enough after all.
