The National Football League continues its worldwide expansion.

As reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the NFL has officially found a new permanent home outside of the U.S., more specifically in London.

The NFL announced early on Thursday that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has officially been named the Home of the NFL in the United Kingdom, moving on from the legendary Wembley Stadium once and for all.

Both parties reached an agreement which states that the stadium will host at least two regular-season games every season through 2029-30.

The London-based soccer club recently renovated its home turf, leading up to this development.

This renovation resulted in two separate playing surfaces, one for football and one to use every week for soccer.

Notably, Wembley Stadium had hosted the very-first NFL game outside of the U.S.

This tradition started in 2007, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to end any time soon.

As a matter of fact, there have been plenty of rumors regarding the possibility of getting a team permanently based in London, with Commissioner Roger Goodell often bringing the subject up.

Goodell even hinted at a four-team European division, but it doesn’t seem like the wheels are in motion for that to happen at this moment.

That would be great for European fans, who have sold out these games in every single opportunity they’ve had to watch their idols play up close.

And with this state-of-the-art venue ready to host more games for years to come, one can only expect that the fan base in London will get much bigger.
