Throughout the course of his NBA career, there were two misconceptions about Kobe Bryant.

The first one is that he was a player who didn’t pass the ball, yet he somehow managed to average 4.7 assists per game in his career.

The second misconception was about his efficiency, which was better explained by NBA analyst Jason Timpf.

“If Kobe [Bryant] played today, he’d be far more efficient than he was in the late 2000s.”@_JasonLT believes Kobe would thrive in today’s NBA. Do you agree?

Timpf points out the fact that Kobe is a victim of today’s obsession with efficiency and explains how he was peaking in that regard when the league was changing.

He stated that Kobe had his most efficient season in 2013, adding that he would’ve been a much more efficient scorer if he played in today’s game.

Kobe’s era was an iso-heavy era with poor spacing and heavily contested shots, which obviously led to a dip in efficiency.

But as Timpf points out, the Black Mamba was catching up with modern tendencies at 34 years old before he got hurt, so there’s no reason to think he wouldn’t be an efficient scorer nowadays.

Kobe had two seasons of over 31 points per game despite playing at a slower pace.

He could’ve dominated in any era, just like all legends, so maybe it’s time we put these narratives to rest.
