The Kansas City Chiefs entered the season as reigning Super Bowl champions, but, once again, there were some serious doubts about their ability to go the distance.
Besides losing OC Eric Bieniemy, they didn’t add any bona fide player to the wide receiver or running back position, and the uncertainty about Chris Jones’ situation made some people wonder if they had what it took to repeat as champions.
They didn’t look sharp in their season opener vs. the Detroit Lions, and while they got Travis Kelce and Jones back on the field for Sunday’s clash vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL insider Willie Colon isn’t so sure about them going away with a win.
“Jacksonville is legit. They’re the new standard in the AFC.”

While Colon admitted that the Jaguars are still the little brother in the AFC and the Chiefs should still win, he believes Doug Pederson’s team is ‘legit’ and ‘the new standard’ in the AFC.
Craig Carton added that the Chiefs no longer have that aura of unbeatability around them and that having Patrick Mahomes on the field isn’t enough to instill fear in the Jaguars anymore.
The Jaguars entered this season fresh off winning a divisional title, but they couldn’t get past Andy Reid’s team in the AFC Divisional Round last season.
They’re thirsty for revenge and are a better team right now than they were months ago, not to mention more experienced.
Whatever the case, even if the Chiefs get the win in Florida on Sunday, this Jaguars team is going to make plenty of noise this season, and it’s time people stop overlooking them already.
