There was lots of hype and excitement surrounding the New York Jets this season, but it all evaporated with one snap of Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles on their first offensive series of the season on Monday night.

Rodgers has been the recipient of a fair amount of sympathy from across the NFL landscape, as he will be out for the season and now faces the prospect of his career, for all intents and purposes, possibly being over.

Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers got a strong performance from Jordan Love, Rodgers’ replacement at quarterback, and defeated their NFC North rival Chicago Bears, 38-20.

Rich Eisen recently mentioned a Wisconsin bar that offered fans free alcohol if the Jets ended up losing, and he had a strong message for such fans.

When Rodgers went down, one figured the Jets were inevitably going to lose to the Buffalo Bills, their opponents at MetLife Stadium, but behind their defense and a great game from running back Breece Hall, they rallied to win in overtime.

This apparently upset some fans wishing for a free tab.

Rodgers’ time in Green Bay ended in discordant fashion, as he was engaged in a contract dispute with the organization toward the end.

In the 2022 offseason, the team traded superstar wide receiver Davante Adams, which set the scene for a disappointing 2022 campaign.

The Packers still lack viable skill players, but they at least have a proof of concept that Love can succeed as a starting NFL quarterback.

It’s time for their fans to put Rodgers in their rear-view mirror and focus their attention on Love’s development.
