During his career with the Miami Dolphins, which spanned over 17 seasons, superstar quarterback Dan Marino was considered to be one of the best players at his position and one of the greatest of all time.
Even though Marino never won a Super Bowl during his nearly two decades in the league with the Dolphins, he’s still widely considered to be among the best ever to do it, with San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana recently saying he was the greatest quarterback ever.
With Marino putting up huge numbers in his prime with the Dolphins, in an era where quarterbacks were nowhere near as protected as they are today and defenses could go much harder, he was recently asked what kind of stats he’d put up in today’s game.
Marino believes that 6,000 passing yards in a 17-game season isn’t out of the realm of possibility, as he told Kevin Clark of ESPN.

Marino threw for over 5,000 yards and 48 touchdowns in 1984, with an impressive completion percentage of 64.2%.
The Dolphins legend also threw for over 4,000 yards six times, as he was known for leading a prolific passing attack in Miami while playing under legendary head coach Don Shula.
As for passing for 6,000 yards in today’s game, there’s obviously no way of knowing, but if any legendary quarterback of the past could pull off such a feat, it would be Marino.
Marino won NFL MVP as well as NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 1984 when he threw for over 5,000 yards and was named an All-Pro six times over the course of his career.
