The New York Jets‘ season went down the toilet right away on Monday when recently acquired future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles.

All their Super Bowl hopes, not to mention the hype and excitement surrounding the team, were gone in a jiffy.

Some have blamed Rodgers’ injury on the artificial turf at MetLife Stadium, and it has revived the debate over whether NFL teams should go back to using natural grass.

But Jets star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams says it doesn’t matter to him, via Bleacher Report.

Teams have been using artificial turf for decades, and there have been studies that claim injuries occur more often on such a surface than on natural grass.

But the fact of the matter is the Jets are back in their familiar position of needing a Herculean effort from everyone just to snag a spot in the playoffs this winter.

Although they have plenty of talent remaining, including Williams and star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, they may now resemble a big ship without a captain.

Zach Wilson, now in his third season, has taken over under center, and while he had a solid performance in Week 1, he will need to play at a much higher level than ever to guide New York to the postseason.

Thus far in his career, he has completed 55.6 percent of his passes while throwing 16 touchdown passes and 19 interceptions.

Rodgers has vowed to return to the field once he recovers, but he is 39 years of age, and an injury of this sort could likely mean the beginning of the end of his career.
