The Cincinnati Bengals looked far from the team that made it to the AFC Championship Game this past NFL Playoffs as they were thoroughly beaten by the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

The Bengals’ offense was a shell of itself as they failed to sustain many drives throughout the afternoon.

The weather surely played a part as players clearly had trouble holding onto the football, but Cincinnati also had to admit that Joe Burrow was not at his best.

Burrow missed a good chunk of training camp after sustaining a calf injury, and while he was healthy enough to suit up he was understandably out of rhythm.

The quarterback already has a concerning injury history, so it was surprising to see him play so late into the game despite the Browns’ lead.

In fact, people like Willie Colon called out the Bengals organization for allowing Burrow to play hobbled and in the rain via The Carton Show.

“If you care about the state of the Cincinnati Bengals, you have to pull Joe Burrow,” Colon said.

Colon has a point that there was no reason for Cincinnati to keep Burrow out on the field as long as they did.

Teams will always try their best to win games but in that situation, the risk was not worth it as Burrow could have easily re-aggravated his calf and missed more time.

Fortunately, the star signal caller came out of the game just fine, though he doesn’t get much time to relax as he and his team will face off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.
