After an NFL offseason filled with hype and high expectations, the New York Jets headed into Week 1 at MetLife Stadium against the Buffalo Bills with high hopes of making a statement that the team was officially a Super Bowl title contender with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers under center.

Unfortunately, only a few plays into his first series with the Jets, Rodgers went down with a season-ending Achilles injury that has completely changed the outlook of the season for New York as well as the rest of the future Hall of Famer’s career in the NFL.

Although an Achilles tear usually ends careers for players at an advanced age, like Rodgers, who will turn 40 in December, the veteran quarterback insists that he will return to the gridiron once he’s healthy and ready to go, whenever that will be.

With less than a week to accept what happened on Monday Night Football, Rodgers recently opened up to Pat McAfee on “The Pat McAfee Show” about suffering the injury and what he’s gone through since via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

#Jets QB Aaron Rodgers on @PatMcAfeeShow says the injury led to “one of the toughest stretches of my life.”

“A lot of sadness, a lot of tears, a lot of frustration, anger… then the sun rose the next day and I found myself in LA and had surgery on Wednesday.”

It seems as though Rodgers has been able to put himself in a good place mentally after going through what he went through on the biggest stage in front of a packed crowd in the Big Apple.

As if Rodgers hadn’t been through enough as he decided what to do with his football career over the summer, this seemed like the worst-case scenario for the superstar quarterback, but he’s taking it in stride and is determined to bounce back.
