The New York Liberty are having one of their best seasons yet and one of their lead players is taking shots at New York’s two NBA teams.
Speaking about her team’s current quest to win in the playoffs, Sabrina Ionescu told the press, “As far as I’m concerned, we’ve been playing the best basketball that’s been played in New York City for a very long time.”
The comments, first shared by New York Liberty Videos, via NBACentral, obviously got under the skin of New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets fans.

The Liberty have not been without their struggles over the last few seasons.
This is their first season with a winning record in years and they have lost in the first round of the playoffs for the last two seasons.
But they have been showing a lot of increased effort and success, especially lately.
However, have they done more than the Knicks and Nets?
The Knicks had one of their strongest regular seasons in a long time and easily made their way into the playoffs.
Of course, that’s where the troubles began for the team and they were eliminated in the opening round.
As for the Nets, their last few seasons have been complicated, to put it lightly.
Just last season, they had Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden on the roster.
Now they are without all three of them and their future remains murky.
The truth is that all New York basketball teams, in both the WNBA and NBA, have had their fair share of good and bad lately.
Will the Liberty be the first to make it all the way to the Finals?
