The Chicago Bears were expected to be one of the most improved teams in the NFC this season and even battle with the Detroit Lions for the top of the NFC North.
However, that has been far from the case thus far.
Justin Fields doesn’t look like the so-called dark-horse MVP candidate some expected him to be, and he has shown no signs of improvement from his breakout second season.
However, former NFL coach Rex Ryan believes he shouldn’t be to blame for that.
According to Daniel Greenberg, Ryan states that the Bears are failing their quarterback by trying to make him a pocket passer, adding that every defensive coordinator in the league is thankful for the fact that they refuse to roll him out of the pocket.
Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan said on ESPN that Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is a special talent but it looks like the Bears coaches are trying to make him a pocket passer and every NFL defensive coordinator is saying thank you for not rolling him out of the pocket.

Fields was a stellar prospect since his days in high school, and he dominated at Ohio State.
He has very good traits, but being a pocket passer isn’t at the top of that list.
He’s at his best when he’s scrambling, moving, improvising, and rolling out of the pocket to keep defenders guessing because of his mobility.
Still, the Bears can’t seem to build an offense around his unique skill set, and that’s obviously holding him back right now.
It’s very early in the season, and the Bears have enough weapons and talent to turn things around.
But it will take more than just a couple of tweaks to straighten the course of this ship and Fields’ career as a whole.
