The Cleveland Browns headed into the Week 2 matchup against the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers hoping to start the season 2-0 while taking down divisional opponents in consecutive weeks.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the Browns, with the Steelers proving to be more of a formidable opponent than expected, with Pittsburgh playing at a high level on the defensive side of the football and getting the win.
Not only did the Steelers beat the Browns to get their first win of the season, but Cleveland lost arguably its best player to a gruesome injury, with star running back Nick Chubb going down.
Chubb’s injury was hard to look at as it was clear that he wasn’t returning to the game and would miss considerable time, if not the rest of the season.
In the aftermath of Chubb’s injury and the news that he will officially miss the rest of the 2023 NFL season, Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith took to Twitter to show his support for the Browns star.
I’m praying for you @NickChubb

Smith was one of many current and former NFL stars to wish Chubb well after the severe knee injury that will end his season.
With Chubb on the mend, the Browns will turn to Jerome Ford, who played pretty well after taking over for the four-time Pro Bowler.
Chubb was well on his way to having a solid performance before suffering the injury, as he rushed for 64 yards on 10 carries.
As for Ford, the 24-year-old finished the game with 106 rushing yards on 16 carries while also catching three passes for 25 yards and a touchdown.
