The Denver Nuggets are officially the cream of the crop in the NBA, with Nikola Jokic and company dominating the competition in the league last season on their way to winning the franchise’s first title.

Jokic, who has taken the league by storm over the last couple of years, was finally able to impose his will on opponents as they had the right pieces of the puzzle around him to lead the Nuggets to a championship.

Although the Nuggets are arguably the best team in the league with the best player leading the way, there have been some questions about how long this team and its leader can dominate.

A former teammate of Jokic’s, Austin Rivers, recently chimed in on the subject on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” and believes that Jokic will only play another five to six years, via NBACentral.

Even though Jokic has been a dominant force in the league for the last few years with a title and two NBA MVP trophies to prove it, he doesn’t appear to be a player who truly enjoys what he’s doing on the basketball floor, especially when he couldn’t wait to get back to Serbia after winning the title.

That said, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Jokic does call it quits a little sooner than expected, especially if he struggles to stay in shape to keep up with the 82-game grind in the years to come.

Only time will tell how long Jokic can sustain this level of play and whether he remains passionate enough about the game to want to play for a long time.
