The Los Angeles Angels continue to be one of the biggest disappointments in baseball.
Each season they enter with high expectations that this is finally the year they make the playoffs, but it never happens.
They have the two best players in the American League, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.
Yet, MLB fans never get to see them playing in October.
One spot that usually gets blamed for their lack of success is the manager.
Mike Scioscia and Joe Maddon were both fired for a lack of success.
Now Phil Nevin seems to be on the hot seat.
But, Trout still has Nevin’s back and he hopes to play for him again next season.
According to Sam Blum, Trout said, “I love playing for Phil. He takes care of his guys. He wants the best for the team.”
Mike Trout on Phil Nevin:
“I love Phil. I love playing for Phil. He takes care of his guys. He wants the best for the team. Not being out there, because I know how much he cares about us, it just sucks.”

Part of the reason the Angels have struggled is because Trout cannot stay on the field.
He has been injured each of the past three seasons and has only played 82 games this year.
The Angels are never going to reach their potential if their best players cannot play.
Ohtani injured his pitching elbow and will be unable to throw all of next season.
To make matters worse, even if Ohtani was healthy he is a free agent.
No one seems to know if Ohtani wants to stay with the Angels or head elsewhere.
The hits just keep on coming for this franchise as they have not been in the postseason since 2014.
The main focus in LA this offseason should be doing whatever is necessary to sign Ohtani to a new deal.
