Damian Lillard represented the Portland Trail Blazers for 11 years.

There were ups and downs, as usually happens in this game, but he was always respectful and left it all on the court for his team and the fans.

That’s why now that he’s finally leaving to join the Milwaukee Bucks, the Weber State product took some time to share a heartfelt farewell message on social media.

Lillard thanked the Blazers’ owner, some executives, trainers, former coaches, and plenty of staff members.

He even thanked Blazers beat writers and insiders, stating that even though they made him mad a couple of times, he respected them and the work they did.

Lillard admitted that he was shedding a couple of tears at the time of the writing, and the letter got really emotional from time to time.

One of the main takeaways from his message was the fact that he stated that he was actually looking forward to coming back and suiting up for the Blazers again at some point in the future, also adding that he’s going to continue his work with the community that embraced him and made him the man he is nowadays.

Lillard also admitted that his stint didn’t end the way he always dreamed of, as he actually wanted to win a championship and retire as a member of the organization.

Perhaps, somewhere down the road there’s still a chance for reconciliation, but it doesn’t seem likely if Joe Cronin stays as GM.

One may or may not agree with Lillard’s decision to finally pursue a trade, but he should still get respect and praise as one of the greatest — if not the greatest — player in franchise history.
