Damian Lillard’s trade request from the Portland Trail Blazers was one of the main surprising storylines this offseason.

But what shocked fans was the fact that he traded to the Milwaukee Bucks despite wanting to go to the Miami Heat.

Playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton will allow Lillard to get a shot at winning an NBA Championship.

Despite many rumors stating that Lillard is unhappy with the trade to the Bucks, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas recently revealed via Fubo Sports on YouTube that Lillard’s text message was the opposite.

“I asked him, ‘Are you happy?’ and he wrote, ‘I am. I think it will finally come to light that I’m one of those guys at the very top. They’ve discredited me for years without acknowledgment,” Arenas revealed.

Damian Lillard remained one of the most loyal players in the NBA for over a decade.

But in exchange for his loyalty, the Trail Blazers failed to build a championship-caliber roster around the 33-year-old superstar.

Keeping that in mind, Dame is happy to be traded to the Bucks despite wanting to return to the Trail Blazers if a trade to the Heat wasn’t possible.

Now, Lillard is hungry to prove that he can help a team win an NBA Championship.

Dame averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game last season, earning the seventh NBA All-Star appearance of his career.

If he can put up similar numbers for the Bucks this season, it will make the organization one of the favorites to win the championship.

Moreover, it will finally allow Lillard to remove the tag of a ringless player, which he has been carrying for his entire career.
