Damian Lillard spent the past couple of months trying to get to the Miami Heat.
The Portland Trail Blazers didn’t want anything to do with that, and they ended up sending him to the Milwaukee Bucks in one of the most surprising moves in recent NBA history.
Lillard had talked about the Heat or even the Brooklyn Nets as his preferred trade destinations, and he had even shut down a fan on Twitter who asked him if he would consider going to the Bucks.
That’s why it was funny to see him telling Chris Haynes of NBA TV that he’s now where he was supposed to be.

Of course, that’s the kind of thing professional athletes say all the time, and it’s not like he’s going to talk trash about his new team, teammates, or town.
Then again, he may actually mean it.
Truth be told, he’s better suited to win an NBA championship in Milwaukee than he would’ve been in South Beach, that’s for sure.
His team didn’t want to send him to his preferred destination and continue setting dangerous precedents, helping star players choose where they want to be traded to.
But still, they actually did him a favor, and even though the weather may not be as nice in Wisconsin, it seems like we’ll see the best version of Damian Lillard next season.
