The New Orleans Pelicans put together an elite set of young talent, but they haven’t been able to keep them on the floor at the same time.

Zion Williamson has missed plenty of time, leaving Brandon Ingram on an island trying to lead the way more often than not.

However, the former Los Angeles Lakers lottery pick has also missed some time of his own, and that has raised some questions about his durability in this league and whether he should get top-dollar in his next contract.

Nonetheless, Ingram has no doubt in his mind that he’s worthy of a huge contract, and he didn’t hesitate to make it public during the team’s Media Day (via Christian Clark and Legion Hoops).

Ingram is entering the final year of a four-year, $158 million contract extension he had already signed.

Right now, he’s eligible to sign an extension for up to three years and $147 million, which doesn’t make a lot of sense for him.

That’s why he’s reportedly looking forward to waiting until next summer, as he could get four years and close to $221 million with a max contract extension by then.

On top of that, he could get even more money if he were to be selected to an All-NBA team, although — once again — his durability issues could stand in his way, granted that he hasn’t played at least 65 games since his first year in the league.

Whatever the case, barring a disaster, it seems like Brandon Ingram’s big payday is coming.
