After a couple of weeks of lackluster efforts, the New York Jets finally put up a fight in primetime as they nearly upset the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.
It was the best showing Zach Wilson’s had since becoming the full-time starter as he managed to somehow outduel Patrick Mahomes and put the Jets in position to win the game.
The entire week leading up to the matchup, the talk around the NFL was if head coach Robert Saleh would finally bench Wilson if he came out and had another poor performance against Kansas City.
The former number-two overall pick was up to the challenge, though, as he showed off why he was such a highly-regarded prospect coming into the league.
While the Jets ultimately suffered another loss, the organization and its fans have some level of hope now as Wilson has proven he can feasibly manage the offense.
On the flipside, analysts like Emmanuel Acho pointed out that Wilson’s going to need help from his defense if New York wants to start winning games via Speak.

Acho points out that every game the Jets have faced an early deficit that’s forced Wilson to try and come back from.
New York’s defense is filled with talent at every level, but so far they haven’t been able to make good on their potential as they’ve allowed other teams to jump on them and grab a lead.
If the defense is unable to figure things out, things will be harder on Wilson, which in turn will hurt the Jets’ chances of getting back in the win column.
