Nick Nurse knew he had his work cut out for him when he took the head coach position with the Philadelphia 76ers.
But things got even harder when James Harden decided he wanted to leave the team.
As it stands now, Harden is still with the Sixers and is allegedly going to participate in training camp.
No matter what happens, Nurse doesn’t believe the Harden drama has been a distraction for his new squad.
Speaking with Keith Pompey, Nurse said that a lot of changes are happening within the team right now and discussions about Harden are minimal and only last a few minutes a day.
Nurse and his team are planning their new season and will adjust to life with or without Harden, he said.

Nurse claimed that the situation isn’t a huge nuisance for the team, which may mean that Harden’s plan has backfired.
Weeks ago, reports said that he was hoping to make life uncomfortable for the team and the front office.
This was going to be his tactic to force a trade.
But it sounds like the team is soldiering forward and mostly ignoring Harden.
Maybe this will all lead to Harden deciding to stay put in Philadelphia, mend damaged relationships, and focus on the season ahead.
His approach to receiving a trade hasn’t panned out so perhaps Harden is going to stop trying and instead attempt to win a championship with the 76ers again.
But even if he doesn’t, the team is going to get to work at achieving their goals for 2023-24.
