After the dust settled on the blockbuster three-team trade that sent superstar guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks from the Portland Trail Blazers, veteran point guard Jrue Holiday was left wondering what the future held for him.

Holiday was sent to Portland as part of the deal, but the Blazers had no intention of keeping him as they were set in the backcourt with rookie Scoot Henderson set to lead the charge.

With Holiday becoming the hot new commodity around the league after Lillard landed in Milwaukee, plenty of teams expressed interest in acquiring him, like the Boston Celtics, who were ultimately able to land him in a deal that sent Malcolm Brogdon and Robert Williams III to Portland.

Holiday lucked out as he went from a winning situation in Milwaukee to a potentially better situation in Boston as the team’s new starting point guard, playing alongside Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis.

After the Holiday was dealt to Boston, he made sure to give high praise to Blazers GM Joe Cronin for helping facilitate the trade and keeping good communication during the process, according to Jared Weiss of The Athletic via NBACentral.

Jrue Holiday credits Joe Cronin for helping him land on the Celtics

“Portland blessed me. Joe Cronin did a great job of communicating with me on how I wanted to proceed…Working with him was very easy, very seamless, and made all of this possible.”

Although Cronin dealt with a lot over the summer due to Lillard’s trade request and the team starting a rebuild, he came out of the situation looking pretty good, with Portland sporting a new-look roster and the future looking bright.

As for Holiday, he has arguably made the Celtics the team to beat, as Boston is again stacked with talent.
