Paul George signed a massive contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020, tying him to the team for four years.

George has been a staple of this roster since he signed this deal, a fan favorite in LA.

Recently, George was asked about the current state of his contract, and if he had an update on a possible extension.

According to beat writer Tomer Azarly via Clutch Points, George said, “It’s active, but both sides have to be on the same page and that’s just what we’re trying to figure out.”

George is currently 33 years old and owns a player option in the 2024-25 season.

It is rare for players to play past that age, especially at a high level.

LeBron James has been an exception to this rule, dominating the league at 38 years of age.

For the Clippers to extend Paul beyond the 2024-2025 season, they’ll need to be confident that he can still compete at an elite level.

Plus, the Clippers have plenty of mouths to feed on this roster, as Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook are still on the team.

The Clippers have a lot of decisions to make, and money to move around over the next few years if they want to extend George.

If the Clippers make a significant playoff run this year, a decision could be made for them.
