The New England Patriots aren’t used to being in the position they are in right now.
They’ve been a contending team more often than not, and most of the blame is falling on their quarterback’s shoulders.
Granted that Mac Jones has been less than impressive, and it doesn’t seem like he’s ever going to be much better than he is today.
But according to Robert Griffin III, his struggles have been more related to coaching malpractice than anything, blaming Bill Belichick for the way he’s dealt with him.
“[Bill Belichick’s] arguably the greatest coach of all time in NFL history. But he really overthought this, and it’s hurt Mac Jones permanently in my opinion.”

In a recent edition of “Get Up,” the former QB talked about Jones looking good under Josh McDaniels in his first season, adding that McDaniels is one of the best offensive coordinators in league history.
Then, he obviously regressed vastly with Matt Patricia calling the plays, and now Bill O’Brien has failed to design an offense around his skills.
RGIII believes that Belichick “broke” his young quarterback because he’s asking him to be someone he’s not.
He pointed out that they’re not running enough play-action plays anymore, which means they need him to scramble and create plays, and he’s not a creator.
As great as Belichick is as a coach, RGIII believes he’s failed his quarterback, and he might be right.
And even though Jones’ ceiling was never the highest, he doesn’t look anywhere close to the player he was during his rookie season, and the saddest part is that he may not get many more chances.
