LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is about to begin his 21st season in the NBA, which is a major feat no matter how you look at it.

But it’s even more impressive because James is still playing some incredible basketball, even at 38 years old.

Speaking on “Gil’s Arena,” Gilbert Arenas was asked about his expectations for James in the upcoming season.

“Same s— we got last year,” Arenas said.

He said that he is expecting the very same James we got last season, despite the fact that he is now a year older and with a stronger roster.

James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists last season, posting an impressive 50% field goal percentage.

Arenas claimed that James absolutely has to perform at that level in 2023-24.

The rest of the Lakers’ lineup has become a lot better over the last year but Arenas said they’re not good enough for James’ stat line to weaken.

The Lakers still need James as their leader.

Few players have played as long as James has.

People often compare James to Michael Jordan, another icon of the game who played in the NBA for many seasons.

But, as Arenas pointed out, Jordan averaged 20 points a game toward the end of his career, which pales in comparison to what James is doing.

James has certainly had his fair share of injuries over the last few years.

Because of this, he will have to be more careful about resting and the minutes he spends on the court.

But there is every reason to believe that the James we see in the upcoming season will look a lot like the one we saw last season.
