After the first three quarters of their matchup with the Denver Broncos last week, it seemed like the Chicago Bears were on their way to capturing their first win of the 2023 season.

But then the football gods had other plans as the Bears squandered a 14-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter, and they eventually saw their record drop to 0-4 this season after the Broncos were able to sneak away with a three-point victory.

This week, Chicago is heading out on the road to take on the Washington Commanders in a matchup that will take place on Thursday night.

If the Bears suffer another loss on Thursday, they will begin the season with an 0-5 record for the first time in over 25 years, per SportsCenter.

It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly why Chicago has struggled in 2023 as much as they have, especially since many thought the Bears might be capable of being one of the surprise teams in the NFL this season.

But after four games, Chicago ranks 31st in points allowed per drive, 26th in giveaways, and 24th in passing yards.

On the kind of bright side, the Bears offense does currently rank 19th in the NFL in points scored per drive, and they rank fifth in rushing yards per attempt.

So, there are still a few reasons to be optimistic about Chicago this season, even if they are off to a terrible start.

The Bears defense will definitely have their work cut out for them as they will be going up against a Commanders team that has averaged 28.7 points in three of their first four games this season.

Will Chicago avoid an 0-5 start on Thursday?
