During each of the last two seasons, the Dallas Cowboys have had their Super Bowl dreams ended by the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs.
This weekend, the Cowboys will attempt to get a little bit of revenge on the 49ers, a team that still hasn’t lost a game yet this season.
In order to get a win over San Francisco, Hall of Fame cornerback Charles Woodson recently shared the type of performance he believes the Dallas defense cannot have.
“Uncharacteristic things, like not running to the football, Micah Parsons getting controlled by tight ends. You don’t see that happening. And just getting too cute. Like seeing Micah Parsons in a three-point stance, lined up across from a tackle with two tight ends outside of him. [Dallas] doesn’t need him in there doing that, he’s taking on too much.”

Overall, the Cowboys’ defense has been one of the best in the NFL this season, as they currently rank second in the league in points allowed per drive.
However, as Woodson mentioned, Dallas did have a bit of a slip-up in Week 3 in their loss to the Arizona Cardinals when their defense allowed a total of 400 yards, including 222 yards on the ground.
If the Cowboys want to get a win this week over an undefeated 49ers team, then their defense can’t have a slip-up like they did two weeks ago in the loss to the Cardinals.
It’s possible that Dallas just didn’t view Arizona as much of a challenge, and they didn’t spend as much time preparing before the matchup as they probably should have.
But with their opponent being one of the last remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL, it’s difficult to imagine the Cowboys underestimating their opponent this week.
If they can get a win over the 49ers on Sunday, Dallas could establish themselves as a true contender in the NFC this season.
