The New England Patriots have a Mac Jones problem on their hands right now.

It’s not that Mac Jones is the problem — or at least not the only problem — but they need to build his confidence up.

At least, that’s what Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated thinks.

In his recent appearance on NBC Sports Boston, the insider stated that it’s time that Bill Belichick finally shows him some love and support.

He thinks that he’s not doing him any favors right now, as Jones has ‘PTSD’ from last season and is playing like the kind of guy who knows that he’s going to get pulled out of the game as soon as he makes a mistake.

Breer argues that the Patriots could’ve sent him a more positive message by letting him finish the game vs. the Dallas Cowboys, as that would’ve been a way to let him know that they’re riding with him and he’ll be their QB until the end of the season.

The Patriots obviously have some big decisions to make regarding Jones’ future with the organization.

With that in mind, the need to give him a longer leash and put him in a position to succeed to actually see what he’s truly capable of.

Right now, Jones looks insecure out there, and that’s going to lead to mistakes.

And while he shouldn’t be the only one to get the blame for the team’s struggles and it’s mostly Bill Belichick’s fault, his future in the league could be in jeopardy because of that.
