It’s easier to criticize NFL coaches because everything they do can be easily dissected.

Since there are only 17 regular season games, their decisions and game management are talked about by supporters and detractors alike.

Mike McCarthy is one head coach who has been highly criticized because of their playoff failures.

For two straight seasons, the San Francisco 49ers have ended their campaign.

However, former NFL wide receiver James Jones cannot understand the criticism McCarthy has gotten.

The FS1 host said that McCarthy’s volume of work is worthy of praise because it has been largely successful.

“I think we forget about that like, dude, he came over here and it’s back-to-back 12-win seasons. Has the Cowboys in the playoffs. Cowboys won a playoff game last year. Like, Coach Mike wins!”

For full disclosure, Jones played for McCarthy with the Green Bay Packers from 2007 to 2013.

Together, they’ve won Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

McCarthy led the Cowboys to 12-5 regular season finishes in 2021 and 2022.

They are 3-1 to start the season, and the Cowboys have been solid on offense with him calling the plays.

They are fourth in points (31), seventh in rushing yards (141.3), and 11th in total yards per game (360) through Week 4.

However, McCarthy’s decision-making will be put to the test when they face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.
