The Chicago Bears are finally in the win column after their 2023 Week 5 Thursday Night Football game.

Their victory over the Washington Commanders broke a 14-game losing streak, the longest in franchise history.

With that burden off their back, football fans and experts have noticed Justin Fields’ improved performances over their last two games.

They could have two straight wins if they didn’t collapse in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos.

Even then, Fields still had 28 completions out of 35 attempts for 335 yards and four touchdowns.

A week later, he led the Bears to victory with 15 completions for 282 yards and four touchdowns.

After all the struggles he’s been through, Fields finally showed the potential that made him a first-round pick in 2021.

However, as impressive as his numbers have been lately, FS1’s Nick Wright is telling the football world to pump the breaks.

“He left the door open that he could prove it. I’m happy he looks like the player we saw at Ohio State. But I need to see it against teams other than, literally, the 2 worst pass defenses in football,” Wright said in a recent episode of First Things First.

Did Justin Fields prove he’s the Bears franchise QB?

The Broncos have the third-worst pass defense, allowing 285.5 yards per game.

In Week 6, the Bears will face the Minnesota Vikings, a team ranked 20th in pass defense.

If the trend continues, Fields should have strong numbers yet again.

Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders and Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints should provide stiff challenges for Fields.
