The Memphis Grizzlies had their first preseason game on Sunday, taking down the Indiana Pacers, 127-122.

One of the biggest parts of Memphis’ win was Derrick Rose, the iconic guard who is about to start his first season with the Grizzlies.

Following the game, Rose talked about coming to Memphis and what it means to him.

“It’s still unreal. Like it still didn’t hit me yet. I’m very blessed, I’m very grateful to be here, having this opportunity,” Rose said, according to a video shared by the Twitter account Oh no he didn’t.

Rose was incredibly solid during his preseason debut, the first time he has played for a Memphis team since his time in college.

He scored 13 points in 13 minutes on a 6-of-8 from the field.

Those impressive numbers are even more remarkable when you consider that he scored an average of just 5.6 points in 12.5 minutes per game last season.

If Rose looks like this during the regular season, he could be just the thing the Grizzlies need.

It is important to remember that Ja Morant will sit out of the first 25 games of the season due to a league suspension.

That means that players like Rose will need to fill the void, lead the team, and shoot well.

Rose did all of that on Sunday.

The former Rookie of the Year is now 35 years old and is definitely not moving like he did years ago.

Additionally, the tempo and competition in a preseason game are definitely much different than in the regular season.

Still, no one can deny that Rose was looking explosive and fast on Sunday.

He didn’t have much of a chance to shine last season but Rose might be about to bloom again with the Grizzlies.
