The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t need a lot of help in the NFL Draft, but good teams can afford to take chances.
That’s why they didn’t hesitate to take Georgia star Jalen Carter in the first round, even despite all the red flags and the fact that he continued to drop.
There were serious concerns regarding Carter’s character and work ethic, especially after he showed up unprepared and out of shape for his pro day.
But he’s been as good as advertised in the early stages of his career, drawing praise from DC Sean Desai.
According to Zach Berman, Desai raved about how much he’s been involved with the team and how he loves to be coached, even by his own peers.
Sean Desai on Jalen Carter: “It’s impressive how much he loves football. He’s like a sponge. He’s asking for feedback. He’s getting coached hard. And even from his peers, he’s taking a lot of coaching from his peers, and whoever he can feel like he can get information from.”

Carter, says Desai, has been like a sponge and very demanding of feedback, and that can make a huge difference.
Some analysts stated that landing in Philadelphia was the best thing that could’ve happened to him.
Not only would he be reunited with some of his teammates from college, but he’d also join a franchise with a win-now mentality that would hold him accountable right away if he didn’t give his best effort from day one.
Carter was once considered to be the best player in his class, and it literally took a disaster for teams to pass on him left and right.
But all that potential is still there, and it’ll be up to him to be as good as scouts and analysts thought he could be, if not better.
