Even though the Miami Heat are coming off their second trip to the NBA Finals in the last four seasons, many are counting them out with the start of the 2023-24 campaign on the horizon.
It is somewhat understandable, as the Milwaukee Bucks recently traded for future Hall of Famer Damian Lillard, while the rival Boston Celtics added Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
But New York Knicks head coach Tim Thibodeau reminded people that with the return of Tyler Herro and the arrival of Josh Richardson, the Heat will still have to be accounted for, via Locked On Heat.
Tom Thibodeau on the Heat:
“Miami gets Herro back and get Richardson, people are overlooking that. They’re loaded.”

During the regular season last year, it looked like Miami would be lucky just to make the playoffs.
They were last in the NBA in scoring, and they had lots of trouble connecting from 3-point range, something that used to be a strength for them.
The Heat finished with a 44-38 record, and they barely won the second game of the play-in tournament against the Chicago Bulls to secure the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
But once the playoffs started, something seemed to change for the Heat, as they waxed the heavily favored Milwaukee Bucks in the first round while averaging a surprising 124.0 points a game.
Herro was out for just about the entire postseason last spring due to a hand injury, and the Heat missed his offensive creativity and productivity, especially in the NBA Finals, where they lost in five games to the Denver Nuggets.
Richardson, a 3-and-D wing, should also help, especially when it comes to improving Miami’s outside shooting.
