In preparation for the new season, ESPN is ranking the top players in the NBA.

As you can imagine, the usual suspects all made the list but the most fascinating thing is noting how they were ranked.

Some people have climbed and fallen in the standings since last year.

Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, for example, was ESPN’s ninth-best player in the league last year, according to NBACentral.

This season, he is ranked No. 35.

Morant noticed that and responded on Twitter with a laughing emoji, followed by an hourglass, and a peaceful, meditating figure.

It is good that Morant has seemingly found peace with this downgrade because it won’t be the last time people question him and his abilities this season.

The biggest reason for Morant’s drop from number 9 to 35 was his off-court activities and the suspensions that he received because of them.

No one can deny Morant is a brilliant player but his inability to keep his personal life straight is hurting his prominence in the league.

Morant will miss the first 25 games of the season, although he will still be able to practice and travel with the team.

During that time, he will hopefully be making moves to ensure nothing like this suspension ever happens again.

He will also probably be building a chip on his shoulder.

That means that when he does come back on December 19, Morant will be looking to remind everyone why he’s still a great player.

If all goes well and Morant stays out of trouble, he could have a huge comeback season.

He might not be No. 35 for very long.
