On Wednesday, ESPN released its rankings of the NBA players it had from spots 11 to 50, and Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving only came in at No. 34.
It may be a bit low for him, especially considering he has averaged over 26 points and five assists a game in each of the last four seasons while shooting a high percentage from the field and from 3-point range.
Per Hoop Central, Irving took to social media to claim that he doesn’t care about his ranking while even saying that most analysts “are not credible sources.”

Irving, who is an eight-time NBA All-Star and a surefire future Hall of Famer, is one of the game’s absolute best one-on-one players, and he is widely considered the greatest ball-handler ever due to his uncanny ability to split double-teams and traps.
After his failed experiment with Kevin Durant on the Brooklyn Nets, he was traded midway through last season to the Mavs, and it was thought his new partnership with Luka Doncic would make the Mavericks into contenders.
Instead, they reeled down the stretch and missed the play-in tournament, and although their outlook looks a little better for this season, it is virtually impossible for them to contend for the NBA championship.
Irving has also been one of the league’s biggest enigmas due to some comments he has made and some of his actions off the court.
During the 2020-21 season, he left the Nets for several games for no apparent reason, and last season, he promoted a documentary on Twitter that is widely considered to contain antisemitic content.
