Outside of Jaren Jackson Jr., Dillon Brooks was the best defender on the Memphis Grizzlies last season, as he possesses the ability to get in the heads of the opponents and doesn’t really care how he’s perceived for the dirty tactics he uses on the basketball floor on a nightly basis.
After a forgettable performance in the NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers, which is solely remembered for his on and off-court battle with LeBron James, the Grizzlies decided they had enough of Brooks.
The Grizzlies let it be known that they had no intention of re-signing the veteran forward over the summer, which led to a lot of speculation about his future in the NBA.
That speculation quickly came to an end when the Houston Rockets signed him to a long-term deal worth $80 million, which was surprising, to say the least.
Even though Brooks is playing for a new team, he’s already up to his old tricks with his questionable tactics on the floor, which resulted in him getting ejected from a preseason game due to recklessly making contact with Indiana Pacers center Daniel Theis.
As a result of the ejection and yet another dirty play by Brooks, the league has hit him with his first fine of the season, even though it’s still the preseason, according to the NBA Communications’ Twitter account.

It appears that regardless of all the criticism he received in the NBA offseason for his questionable style of defense, he’s got no intention of changing things up now that he gets a fresh start with the Rockets.
Houston changed things up considerably during the offseason after the team hired Ime Udoka to be its new head coach, with the team bringing in Brooks along with Fred VanVleet in free agency.
