The Minnesota Timberwolves have trusted Karl-Anthony Towns for the last eight seasons to lead the team.

However, under Towns’ leadership, the Timberwolves have failed to make a deep run in the NBA playoffs.

In fact, they have only made it to the playoffs three times over the last eight years and failed to get past the first round each time.

With the rise of Anthony Edwards, it’s no surprise that the Timberwolves may be looking to trade him to another team.

The New York Knicks are reportedly monitoring Towns’ situation with the Timberwolves, as per Stefan Bondy via NBACentral on Twitter.

Towns is a three-time NBA All-Star and has averaged more than 20 points per game in seven out of his eight seasons in the league.

Moreover, Towns is an above-average three-point shooter despite primarily playing as a center and power forward in his career.

Keeping that in mind, one would assume that Towns would have lots of interest on the trade market.

However, Towns has become injury-prone over the last few years.

So much so that he played just 29 games last season.

He averaged 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game for the Timberwolves.

Either way, Towns may not be the perfect player for the Timberwolves, as they have a traditional big man in Rudy Gobert.

With that being said, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Knicks approached the Timberwolves to inquire about a potential trade for Towns sooner rather than later.
