Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is one of the most talked-about rookies of all time and is clearly a phenomenal talent.
But he still wants to get a lot better.
Speaking to Stephanie Ready on TNT following Friday night’s preseason win over the Miami Heat, Wembanyama admitted that he is trying to improve his defensive game.

Wembanyama’s interview was quite revealing.
He said that he likes to change things up and is eager to have a lot of variety in the way that he plays basketball.
This could be incredibly bad news for any opponent.
One of the most dangerous things about Wembanyama is that he is so versatile.
He can score from seemingly anywhere on the court, posting up in the paint or scoring from the perimeter and even sinking three-pointers with ease at times.
And when it comes to defense, Wembanyama is already quite strong.
He has already showcased a few impressive swats, hitting the ball away from his competitors because of his incredibly long arms.
The fact that he wants to get even better on the defensive end of the court is exciting for Spurs fans and very scary for everyone else in the league.
Wembanyama scored 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists on Friday night.
Those rebounds were all defensive ones, proving that he already has talent in that department despite his desire to improve.
Those are very strong numbers for the rookie and the fact that he is looking to get even better in the weeks and months ahead is exhilarating for San Antonio.
