After a complicated and rough patch in his career, Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Clippers could be on the verge of a true revenge season.

His team posted a video of Westbrook and others on the court, practicing in the days before the new season.

In the video, Paul George posted a shot that hit the rim but didn’t go in.

But Westbrook was right there to complete the bucket and was joyful and triumphant afterward.

Westbrook has every reason to be happy and excited: his time with the Clippers might be very special and a great boost to his career.

During his first 21 games with the Clippers last season, Westbrook averaged 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists.

And in the playoffs, Westbrook carried the team on his back with 23.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists.

He looked like a man on a mission, someone eager to prove that he could still be a premiere NBA superstar.

He was without both George and Kawhi Leonard but was ready to step up to the task and be the sort of player his team needed.

Before he came to the Clippers, a lot of people had written Westbrook off.

His time with the Lakers didn’t work out as expected and there were many who said he was cancerous to the team and its locker room.

There was even some speculation that he could be waived by the Lakers and his career in the league may be winding down.

Westbrook arrived at the Clippers with something to prove and he did just that during his short starting stint with the team.

Can he keep it up in 2023-24?
