The Golden State Warriors didn’t make many moves this past summer, outside of trading for Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards.

Paul’s addition to the Warriors adds another layer to the Warriors’ offense, as he’s remained one of the top-notch point guards in the league over the last 18 years.

Chris Paul could be a valuable addition to the team during the season.

While there are surely some strengths with Paul’s arrival to the Warriors, NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith revealed a few things that may be a huge concern for the team.

“Chris Paul is not one that you need to push the pace,” Smith said.

In essence, Smith believes that a Chris Paul-led offense will ultimately decrease the pace of the team’s offense.

The Warriors are usually known for a fast-paced offense and Paul is known for running historically slow offenses.

Keeping that in mind, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson may not benefit from this type of offense.

As for the expectations, the Warriors are viewed as one of the top teams in the Western Conference.

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game last season.

If he can maintain these numbers in the 2023-24 season, it will certainly make the Warriors one of the favorites to win it all.

A key reason behind it is the fact that Stephen Curry can handle most of the offensive burden for the team while Paul can focus on being the showrunner for the team.
