The Boston Celtics made several key moves during the 2023 offseason.
They traded for the likes of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday.
With the roster looking as star-studded as possible, the Celtics have now shifted focus on making the management stronger.
The decorated franchise did so by hiring Jeff Van Gundy as the team’s senior consultant.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla shared his reaction to the signing via Chris Forsberg on Twitter.
“Any time you get to add like high character, high level, professional people, I think it’s a no brainer and so fortunate enough that he’s here, not just for the coaching staff, but for everybody,” Mazzulla said.

Van Gundy brings a lot of experience to the table as he was previously involved as a coach in the NBA for 18 years.
He was a coach for the Knicks for 14 years, seven as an assistant and seven as the head coach of the franchise.
Van Gundy later took over the head coaching duties of the Houston Rockets for four years.
However, Van Gundy’s most iconic role came as a broadcaster for ESPN.
Van Gundy exchanged the clipboard for a microphone in 2007 and remained with ESPN until June 2023.
The veteran broadcaster was laid off by the company.
Well, Jeff Van Gundy’s love for the game of basketball didn’t allow him to keep himself away from the game for too long.
Apart from being the senior consultant for the Celtics, Van Gundy will reportedly also devote his time to the Maine Celtics, the organization’s G-League team.
While Joe Mazzulla is extremely happy with Van Gundy’s onboarding as a consultant, only time will tell whether this addition will prove useful for the Celtics or not.
