After their rousing win against the Washington Commanders in Week 5, the Chicago Bears were unable to build on that momentum as they lost to their NFC North division rivals the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bears fell to 1-5 during the 2023 NFL season and are likely staring at another high draft pick next year.
It was a modest back-and-forth game in the first half as both teams struggled to move the football, though Justin Fields found some room to run to extend drives.
Unfortunately for Chicago, Fields had to leave the game due to a hand injury and was later ruled out for the remainder of the afternoon.
The timing is terrible as Fields looked like he had finally caught a rhythm in the offense, though he could very well miss some time now due to injury.
Shortly after the game, Matt Eberflus announced that Fields’ X-rays came out negative and will now have an MRI done via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Bears’ HC Matt Eberflus said X-rays on Justin Fields’ right hand were negative, and he will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Negative X-rays mean that Fields avoided any sort of breaks in his hands, so now it’s a matter of figuring out if this is simply a bruise or another issue.
Without Fields, rookie backup quarterback Tyson Bagent stepped in and almost put the Bears in position to steal the game.
Bagent completed 10 of his 14 pass attempts for 83 yards, though he did get picked off once.
Still, it wasn’t a bad performance from the rookie and he is slated to start in place of Fields if the latter is forced to miss any time.
