The NBA preseason is the right time to make experiments and adjustments.
It doesn’t count for the record, so teams should have a different approach when assessing their teams and strategies.
That was what Darvin Ham did when facing his former team, taking a rather unorthodox approach to try and stop their new two-headed monster.
When asked about the Lakers’ defensive strategy, Giannis Antetokounmpo was in awe of the fact that they trapped Damian Lillard from the very first possession of the game (Via Tomer Azarly and ClutchPoints).
“I’ve never seen someone double teamed on the 1st play of the game. It was a surprise. It’s a preseason game. Not a playoff game, not a regular season game, not an in-season tournament game… It’s insane.”

Antetokounmpo claimed that it was so crazy to see someone getting doubled-team on the first possession of a preseason game; not a regular season, playoff, or play-in tournament game.
Notably, Giannis will have to get used to that.
The Bucks have two 30+ points-per-game scorers with complementary games.
One can drive to the rim and dominate at will with his strength, power, hops, and physicality.
The other can craft his way to his spot and pull up from all three levels.
If that wasn’t enough, they have a prime third-scoring option in Khris Middleton, someone who could also go off for 30 points on any given night, as he’s proven over the years.
Other teams will have to stay honest and pick their poison when it comes to facing these revamped and stacked Milwaukee Bucks.
And while teams don’t win NBA championships on paper, it’s hard to envision this team having any sort of trouble getting past most of the other teams in a potential seven-game series.
