The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Detroit Lions as three-point home underdogs, with several pundits and analysts thinking they could pull off a rather shocking upset at Raymond James Stadium.

That wasn’t the case, as Lions fans took the road and made their presence felt in a hostile environment, and the Bucs were never able to get any sort of offensive rhythm.

Following the 20-6 loss, Baker Mayfield took the blame and claimed that ‘he sucked,’ adding that the offense as a whole didn’t play well enough (via Dov Kleiman).

Baker was 19 of 37 passing for 206 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT.

After the game Baker said: “We sucked today, I sucked today, it was awful from the get-go.”

The former No. 1 pick stated that the defense and special teams did an outstanding job again, but the offense failed to get any momentum, starting off slow and never being able to get on track.

Mayfield completed 19 of 37 passes for 206 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.

He had recently joined the MVP conversation, granted that the Bucs had fared much better than expected, and his numbers had been quite above average.

Nonetheless, this performance reminded us more of his struggles with the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers than his glory days with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Of course, we also have to give the Lions a lot of credit for how they dominated the trenches.

They were more prepared, hungrier, and more determined to get the win at all costs, and the Bucs could never get on track.

The Lions are now tied for the best record in the league, sitting atop of the NFC North with a 5-1 record that includes a win over the defending Super Bowl champions.
