On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers finally lost a game when they fell to the Cleveland Browns, 19-17, in a game they had every chance to win despite playing poorly.
They lost star running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel to injury during the contest, yet kicker Jake Moody could’ve won it with a last-second field goal, which he missed.
Niners quarterback Brock Purdy, who had been playing very well ever since taking over the starting spot in Week 13 of last season, had a bad game, going 12 of 27 for just 125 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Commentator Chris Broussard says he’s not concerned that this performance could be a sign of things to come, as he said that Purdy merely had a bad game under some unfavorable circumstances.
“There was never a doubt that Brock Purdy was going to have a bad game,” Broussard said.

San Francisco was going up against an outstanding Browns defense on the road, the likes of which they haven’t faced in a while.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson was out for the Browns, but they successfully mucked up the game and won a contest that they likely would’ve lost as recently as last season.
Everyone, even the greatest of the great, has a bad day every now and then, and now the key for Purdy will be to bounce back and play well in his next outing.
That next outing will come on Monday, Oct. 23, when the 49ers visit the Minnesota Vikings, a team that is just 2-4.
The following week, they will face a challenge when they host Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that is starting to play better after a dismal 1-3 start.
