The Minnesota Vikings are fresh off a Week 6 victory over the Chicago Bears.
This brought their season record to 2-4, good for third place in the NFC North.
While this victory might have raised their spirits temporarily, the Vikings recently received devastating news about one of their top defenders.
According to Ian Rapoport, Marcus Davenport is slated to miss at least four weeks due to injuries sustained in the Bears game.
#Vikings pass-rusher Marcus Davenport suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday’s win, sources said after the MRI. Those generally have a recovery time of 4-6 weeks, making Davenport an Injured Reserve candidate.

This news is the latest in a string of unfortunate events for the Vikings, who lost Justin Jefferson to the IR in Week 5.
Davenport began establishing himself on his new team as a staple on their defensive line.
Considering this injury news, the Vikings will have to look elsewhere for additional productivity on their defensive line.
Danielle Hunter will likely be called upon in a greater capacity after losing a player of Davenport’s caliber.
Hunter is already putting together a massive season, totaling 32 tackles and eight sacks.
He is tied with T.J. Watt for the league lead in sacks, a mark that he has not yet accomplished.
If he continues to play at this level, holding down the fort until Davenport returns, the Vikings’ defense might still be okay.
Even though Hunter is having a career year to this point, one person doesn’t make up the entire defense.
Additional players need to step up in the meantime if the Vikings want any chances of making the postseason.
At 2-4, they have a difficult road to the playoffs, especially with Jefferson and Davenport sidelined.
