When it comes time for the 2024 NFL Draft to take place next April, current USC quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to be the No. 1 overall selection.
Williams is already being regarded as a generational prospect, and some believe that, even as a rookie, he could make an immediate impact on an NFL team whenever he ends up entering the league.
Whenever the young quarterback does enter the NFL, he would reportedly like his contract to include a stake in ownership of the team that decides to draft him, according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio (via Dov Kleiman).

Something like that would certainly be unique, especially since it’s not permitted.
According to league rules, active players in the NFL are not allowed to own a portion of any team in the league.
Perhaps there is a workaround that Williams’ representatives can figure out, but for now, it doesn’t seem like his desire to own a small percentage of a team is something that will be able to happen.
After winning the Heisman Trophy last year, Williams is playing at an extremely high level once again for USC this season.
In seven games, he’s completed 70 percent of his passes for 2,021 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, in addition to rushing for 116 yards and another four scores.
At this point, it’s not crazy to think that Williams could potentially be on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy for the second straight season.
If he does that, then the odds of him going No. 1 in the 2024 NFL Draft will likely be even higher, if that’s possible.
