The James Harden saga continues to get more and more complicated with every passing day for the Philadelphia 76ers, as there’s no telling how long the situation will drag out and whether he’ll get his wish to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Even though the team is dealing with a somewhat chaotic and unpredictable situation with Harden, the team’s other superstar, Joel Embiid, continues to make strides forward.
Along with recently letting it be known that he wants to play for Team USA next summer during the 2024 Olympics, Embiid appears to be nearing a shoe deal with Skechers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic via Legion Hoops.

Skechers is not known for being in the basketball space, but that’s what the company intends to do moving forward, with Embiid likely being the face of the new division.
Most centers in the NBA don’t really get shoe deals, and if they do, it’s not with the major companies, as seen with Embiid in this case.
However, Embiid has the chance to be the face of this company when it comes to basketball shoes, which could be a great opportunity for him, as they will almost certainly be compensating him well.
As for the 76ers, the immediate future remains uncertain, as the team can’t really move forward until this Harden drama is dealt with, and it seems as though he wants to make things ugly and drag it out until he gets his way, which may never happen.
